Official 928 Sprint Record and Quickest (200mph+)

Modified Road Porsche

On the Line

Our Brett broke the 1/4 mile UK record for a 928 yesterday - 11th July 2010.

The feat so boggled some that on one forum people thought it was a hoax until the ticket below was produced.

The car had previously done 0-60mph in 2.92 secs G Tech confirmed, using smaller wheels.

He competed in style on Sunday - with full leather, electric passenger seat, electric windows and air con still fitted, not to mention his collection of CDs he mixes.

Now with remote starter!!

Already several hundred pounds from three Porsche enthusiasts sponsoring Brett (on condition he won!) has been donated to Help for Heroes following his successful record run at the charity event, Modified Madness 2010, at Baker Barracks on Thorney Island on 11th July 2010.

The previous record of 13.39 secs /108 mph was set by enthusiast Adrian Clarke in his stripped down 5 litre 928 GT with supercharger.

Brett did it in his daily driver 928 S2 in 13.035 secs / 113.3 mph.

Brett's car is a full luxury road car tourer weighing 3603 lbs.

3/10ths second is substantial in drag racing and an unstripped 928 is a pretty heavy car to set a record in, particularly on the poor surface that was available and without using smaller radius tyres or wheels or slicks!

He was also running at only an extra 210 Nitrous HP - just over 10% of the available 2000 extra HP with his new advanced 'Revo' British nitrous system from Wizards of NOS.

He adjusted it for the sprint, it having been fitted for top speed attempts where power needs to be applied gradually - even if it is a 928!

Brett's next attempt when testing on the new system is finished is for the Porsche top speed record for a road car - currently 206 mph for the V10 Carrera GT.

This 'Modified Classic vs Standard Modern' Porsche record is a Brett special !

In testing, unofficial timing has given a figure of 208 mph, showing the car is capable of doing 50 mph over the factory figure. This should come as no surprise even given the age of the car - Porsche factory figures are known to be conservative and as the  post market tuning industry relies on, the cars can safely take more punishment than the factory provides!

The charity event at Thorney Island 17th September 2011 as previously published here was unfortunately cancelled even after with our help the MoD relented over a decision- Brett was going to try to improve on the record there.
